The
Boxing Kangaroo is a seaside restaurant open 7 night a week
for dinner owned and operated by Bruce and Solange Heazlewood,
an Australian and his Brazilian wife. The restaurant is approximately
a 15 minutes stroll along the beach or road from the village
center (free transport service to/from hotels, pousadas, in
Cumbuco is also provided) come and enjoy the friendly atmosphere
and service.
There
is a large range of traditional local and international dishes
to choose from, including home made soups starters and snacks.
The principal dishes include fresh locally caught lobster,
shrimp and fish fillets, grilled in butter and garlic, succulent
Argentinian picanha (entrecôte of beef), tender file
mignon, grilled just the way you like, giant spare ribs in
Chinese sauce or a real genuine Australian BBQsauce, tender
baby lamb chops, pasta served with various sauces. Special
sate menus are also available . All meals are home made and
freshly prepared when you place your order.
They
also have local and international wines. Experiment with the
fantastic Brazilian cocktails based on local fruit and cachaça
(Brazilian sugar cane brandy) or vodka. A wide selection of
mixed drinks is also available. After dinner you can relax
on the verandah, overlooking the moonlit ocean, and take an
"Irish", cappuccino, or a freshly brewed Brazilian,
café with liqueur.
Saturdays
and Sundays they are also open during the day, so drop by
and mingle with Brazilians, as many of them enjoy their weekend
on the beach. Try one of the the many special day time snacks
available, especially the famous caranguejo (cooked crabs).
