Brazil fishing boat

The Brazilian coastline is about 8,000 kilometres long, and there is still
no exact idea of the rivers that are suitable for diving. But from any
perspective this is a world of water in which to dive headfirst and allow
yourself to drift. At times like these the body is an island, surrounded by water on all sides and given over to the beauty and mystery of the underwater liquid world of Brazil.
As the Brazilians themselves say when they want to express a wonderful sensation . É de lavar a alma (literally, It cleanses the soul...). A country that is lapped by the Atlantic waves and bathed in the sun's rays, it is easy to understand the Brazilians affinity with water. They begin in childhood diving into rivers, streams, brooks, lakes, lagoons, pools and of course the sea itself. Dives disappearing into the shallows or the deeps, made by pleasure seekers or professionals, perfecting techniques, with or without specialized equipment, Brazilians are at one with water. As if diving was a form of breaking barriers, forcing adaptation and evolution.

Thus we are renewed, man, who enters this world from the liquid safety of his mother's womb can now dive into a new world: of water.

The Marinho de Abrolhos national park in the south of the state of Bahia, shelters the most extensive coral reefs in Brazil, and is one of the rarest in the entire world. The archipelago of 5 volcanic islands is surrounded by seas which have one of the greatest concentrations and varieties of fish per square metre on the planet. Between August and November Abrolhos is visited by Real whales who make their presence known by their aerial acrobatics and their songs. A rare species of whale, they can measure up to 15 metres and weigh up to 30 tonnes.
