Amapá

Amapa

The humid region of Amapá streched between Suriname and French Guiana with just not even 500.000 inhabitants from whom half lives in the capital Macapá itself. Since this state has been owned in the past to French Guiana many of the people speak French. England, France and the Netherland tried to concor this region before the Potuguese settled colonists in 1738 at Macapá. At 1815 the Portuguese and French arranged the border but lots of land was left to no-ones-land and so many runnaway slaves escaped to this part. After Interna arbitration awarded Amapá to Brazil it was annexed to Pará but in 1943 they got their independense as the official state Amapá.
